Smokey Chimney's Fire Starting Tips:  

If you have a fireplace or wood burning stove, here are some simple steps to properly lighting a fire so that the smoke vents up the chimney & doesn't come back into your house.

1. Open the damper.
2. Roll newspaper into balls and lay on the grate.
3. Lay dry kindling on newspaper (in a tee pee shape)
4. Pre heat smoke chamber by holding a lit piece of newspaper above damper to create a draft. (Be careful to not get burned.)
5. Light newspaper that is on the grate. When paper & kindling are burning & fireplace is drafting well, add larger logs to the fire gradually.

For best results: All wood should be kept very dry.

Top Sealing Damper Operating Instructions:

To open damper: Release brass clasp from under cut out and allow chain to move up through the bracket.
To close damper: Pull down on chain and lock brass clasp under cut out in the bracket.

Directions will be left with customer after damper installation.
